When should I book?
You can book whether you’ve just had your baby or whether your baby is older. Issues usually occur when baby is younger but it’s never too late to get support.
What happens during a consultation?
We will first take a history of your birth and how feeding has gone so far, then observe some or all of a feed and make suggestions. This may take a little bit of time. We will then go away and create a personalised summary of our visit and a feeding plan.
Do you offer a follow up service?
Yes, a follow up service is included with all appointments for one week after your appointment via email or whatsapp messages. Messages will be responded to withing office hours of 9-5. If you feel that you would benefit from another home or virtual appointment, these can be arranged for an additional £80 for a home visit or £50 for virtual, this only applies after you have had an initial appointment.
Will you check for tongue-tie?
While I can observe for signs of tongue tie and discuss feeding behaviours, I do not diagnose. If I suspect that tongue tie may be a factor, I will help you to seek appropriate advice/action from a specialist.
What if I want to combination or bottle feed?
Milk Manchester will support you however you choose to feed your baby with respect and without judgement. Whether that’s exclusively breastfeeding, pumping, combination or bottle, we are here to tailor our services to your needs.
Can my partner attend the appointments?
Yes, partners or other people who support you are welcome during the appointment. Feeding support works best when your support network is also involved.
What qualifications/registrations do you have?
I have a Bsc in Midwifery from the University of Northampton, Nursing and Midwifery Council registered and am a breastfeeding counsellor trained by Antenatal UK. I am also a member of the Royal College of Midwives.
